Future interior design trends predicted

Ahead of the true release of spring/summer trends for 2012, the Scarlet Opus team – a band of interior design experts currently plying their trade in Dubai – has predicted the upcoming themes that people may reflect in their décor from Topps Tiles in the coming year.

Speaking to Ahram Online, calm and cool colours will establish the dominant role in housing across the world, as schemes ranging from greys to icy blues to pale beiges will stand out, among others. Natural themes will also establish a “constant undercurrent” that carries over major campaigns from last season carrying over to the use of materials in design such as wood, cottons and linens.

“The watery, mysterious, underworld theme is new this season,” the report continued. “Although turquoises and electric blues have come in and out of popularity as a highlighting colour, the aqua theme morphs different shades of blues, greens and purples together.” Meanwhile, there would be an injection of cyan, though this dazzling colour would be offset by fuchsia and coral colours, or calmed down with mother of pearl.

The report added: “Now, although neutrals in the background are still heavily trending, people are a bit tired of such serious austere, clean surroundings.”
